Algerians Play Politics in Soccer

 

 

 

After beating  Morocco, Algerian national team players -in the 2021 Arab cup tournament- raise Palestinian flags in celebration. Upon the referee’s final whistle, the players celebrated their victory, not only with their national flag but also with the Palestinian  flags and kufiyas. This happens amidst tensions between Morocco and Algeria due to the long established Algerian military regime intervention in Moroccan internal affairs, mainly its sovereignty over the Sahara and over selecting international allies that include Israel.
